DeSmuME 0.9.10 released!

In this version, we have focused on trying to clean up some complexities in the user experience and emulator internals. Pretty unglamorous stuff, but some games are newly compatible.

    I have a question…
Yesterday i downloaded this new version of DeSmuMe and i started playing right away but, when i try it again this morning my controls started to fail.
I tried every single button but it didn’t work.
Is there a problem with the new release or is my computer???

  17. Kyle_Hyde says:

Genial, es el mejor emulador que hay.
Otros emuladores ni se acercan a lo que es el gran Desmume.
Este es el mejor regalo, dos actualizaciones en el año!!!

  18. Nut says:

Thanks for this release :) .

  19. DanielBR says:

You guys should use the sourceforge only for the binary. If you use the github, the project will have a lot more help on the code, like the ppsspp. Because this way is far more easy to contribute for external developers.

  20. AsPika2219 says:

Thanks for nice update! Keep moving forward, Desmume team! ;)

  21. Emilio says:

Why the Desmume can´t open it said “DeSmuME” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. :(

    • Robert says:

If you’re running from a mac, I think that’s one of Mavericks’ new “features.” You can get around this by right clicking Desmume and then clicking “Open.” It then gives you the option to open anyway.

  22. Lan21 says:

what games are newly compatible? :D

    • zeromus says:

      DanielBR: false.
      Emilio: google “unidentified developer” osx
Lan21: I invite someone else to do the footwork to figure out what’s been fixed by testing games, checking the bug tracker, and the SVN logs. Or maybe you could do it yourself for games you’re interested in.

  23. Sunjay says:

0.9.9 had better performance on Mac

  24. Infothirst says:

This is a bit disappointing. Expected it would be called v1.0. So does this mean with v1.0 3ds emulation will be focused on?

  25. Yutaka says:

Thank you for your continuous support to this great emulator!

By the way, is there any typical reason why you removed language option from config menu?
(Not a big deal to me. I just found.)

    DeSmuME_0.9.10_x64.exe on Windows7

  26. Hardley says:

nice emulator but i cant copy and paste my cheats and its frustrating me.

  27. Garneac says:

Couple of questions not directly related to this recent relase.

    1) Is it possible to have multiple control configs with Desmume? The way that Visual Boy Advance allowed. I have different configs for different games and think it’d be nice to not have to reassign keys everytime I switch between games.

    2) How do I register on the forum? I put in the correct answers to show I’m not a bot, and yet each time I’m told the captcha is wrong. And yet I successfully slide the cursor to the right all the time. So what am I doing wrong?

Any help y’all can offer would be much appreciated. Looking forward to your responses. :)

  28. zeromus says:

Infothirst: what’s magic about 1.0? Who cares what version number it’s called? The red text in this post answers your question.
Yutaka: because the languages were out of date and nobody was maintaining them, and it didnt change all the text anyway.
    Hardley: in which OS?
Garneac: swap desmume.ini files; also, perhaps you arent armed with the correct answer, after all. perhaps describe what you think the right answer is. Maybe you should turn off your ad blockers which might interfere with the sliding?

  29. Infothirst says:

Hmm, seems the 3d viewer is gone. Any reason why?

  30. zeromus says:

It was built as an example of using WX which we removed due to general disuse, was a pathetic shadow of what it was meant to be, and was getting in the way of some further work.

  31. Garneac says:

    @zeromus

I’m pretty sure one answer begins with A and the other with N.

And I turned off my adblockers, but still no go. :C

Oh well. I was mainly signing up to ask about multiple control configs and congratulate the team for producing such a great emulator. Thanks for the help!

  32. zeromus says:

ok, it seems the question is case-sensitive (LAME!) and the cursor-dragging captcha JUST DOESNT WORK. thanks for bringing this to our attention

  33. Garneac says:

Glad to have been of some help. :)

  34. Renan says:

Hey guys, first I’d like to say thank you for this amazing emulator, you’re doing a very good job!

But I’m having a problem with the “GBA cartidge” slot2 function.
When I select the rom and click “OK”, the emu keeps crashing.
It used to work on 0.9.7 version.

I tried searching at the forums, but haven’t found any solution…
    I’m using the 0.9.10 x86 version, on Win7 x86.

    • zeromus says:

Yep, its a new bug. Sorry, man.

      • Garneac says:

        Wait, wait— what?

We can play GBA games with Desmume? :O

Also, where can I find links to earlier versions of the emulator?

        • Renan says:

Thanks for reply zeromus! I’ll keep using 0.9.7 for this function, until it works again :)

Garneac, nope, you can’t play GBA games with desmume…

Some DS games have a special feature, when you “insert” a GBA rom on slot2 using that function, you can access for example:

          - New pokemons in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl
          - Libra skill in FF Tactics A2
          - New bosses in Megaman ZX

Or some DS slot2 accessoires, like guitar grip for Guitar Hero games, for example.

So, this function only made possible for we obtain those special features, if you want to play GBA on PC, use Visual Boy Advance, a very good GBA emulator.

You can obtain more info about DS-GBA games connectivity in the following link:

          http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_DS_games_with_GBA_connectivity

About DeSmuMe earlier versions, go to wiki page for versions info and google the version you want.

Not english language native speaker, expect some grammar mistakes!

  35. Infothirst says:

Disappointed that there is still no fullscreen option.

    • rogerman says:

Which port are you talking about? I’m absolutely sure that the Windows and Mac ports have full screen options. Pretty sure the GTK Linux port has it too.

      • zeromus says:

Some people expect it to happen when they press F11 or something like that, unaware that alt+enter is the more ancient and powerful technique

        • Infothirst says:

Sorry about that. Oh and btw I always get a white area on the bottom right of my screen on maximizing. Why is that?

  36. Sam says:

    It’s fast :D

  37. Afrie says:

i can’t play my previous save file in this version,is there anyone who have the same problem like me? :(

    • zeromus says:

Savestates are incompatible between versions. Do you mean savestates? I think it would be weird if in-game saves were incompatible between these versions, but we have had some similar kinds of troubles.

  38. Daniel says:

The most stable DS emulator, great work guys. And very nice job with the speed issue (was kinda annoying, now it’s great).

I’ve read the comments and I don’t understand very well something.
Is this new version 0.9.10 (64-bits I’m using) compatible with the GBA slot feature? I am triyng to make it work with Pokemon Platinum to get the instertion encounters. Is this working properly? I just have to select the rom on the slot and that’s it?

  39. Nate says:

Thanks a lot for all your hard work!! It’s a great emulator!!
