DeSmuME v0.7.2 released!

It’s that time again. This release is primarily a bug-fix release. The new features that are included in this release though are the ability to change the firmware language and some improvements to the *nix port’s opengl code. Also those people running Mac OS X should now be able to compile and run DeSmuME pretty well now.

problems compiling…specifically with the evil autoconf:

    last few lines of output:

    checking for GL/glu.h… yes
    checking for pkg-config… pkg-config
    checking for GTK… yes
    checking for GTKGLEXT… yes
    checking for GTHREAD… yes
checking for gdk_gl_init in -lgdkglext-x11-1.0… yes
    checking for LIBGLADE… yes
checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles… no
    configure: creating ./config.status
.infig.status: error: cannot find input file: Makefile

for some reason it can’t create the makefile, any ideas? there’s definately both a Makefile.am and a Makefile.in

    It’s Very good This Emu!!!!!!

  3. Montrey says:

Minor release, but useful, i’ve haven’t seen much changes, just minor improvements but these improvements need to be done, and i think it’s very hard to improve this sort of things. I loved the improvement to MAc users! Keep up the wonderful work!

    Cool

  5. VT Phantos says:

DeSmuME is by far my favorite DS emulator, it has the nicest features and has the most compatability. I would like to see a built in cheat device that can scan the game code and allow the user to create cheats. (like Visualboy Advance does)

  6. Trevor says:

Ill ask this once before I waste my energy downloadin this new emulator
can it play pokemon diamond and pearl ?

  7. snkmad says:

No, go buy a real DS.

  8. Trevor says:

I dont have that kind of money =(

  9. guest says:

I download it, I use Megaman ZX to play it but how come its slow and the screen is screwy?

  10. Stef says:

Trevor, if you don’t have the money for a DS then you certainly
don’t have the money anyway for the computer that would run
    the emulator ;-)

  11. Trevor says:

I got an Hp pavillion labtop computer so yes i do its hard to find a workin emulator besides no $gba and ideas because both of the screens are too small and hurts my eyes :(

  12. DigitalAg says:

Rejoice. I have found out why the error “application failed to initialize error 0xc0150002″ is occurring. Evidently, XP SP2 does not have the following files and you need them both within the zlib.dll as they are referenced. Run depends.exe in the system folder to find out.

Anyway, the files you need are msvcr80.DLL and msjava.dll.
However, you can only download these as part of two large packages and then you have to rename java.dll to msjava.dll.

The first package is microsoft .NEt Framework 2.0. Download. install. copy out the msvcr80.dll into the desmume directory. and then uninstall the package.

Next, go to sunmicrosystem.com and download java runtime libraries. Then find java.dll on your harddrive (doesn’t matter which one) and then copy to the desmume directory. Finally rename to msjava.dll. and you are up and running.

Now, can someone plz find me a job?

    Later.

cool . this emulator is the best.

i have been playing in my cousins pc for hours.can i download it?

  15. Hanno says:

Get the same error as the first commenter. As all previous versions had strange gl-errors (that were also mentioned in comments, but never answered) and this one even fails to compile, is linux even considered supported at the moment?

Would you need help (testing before releases etc.) from linux users?

  16. shash says:

DigitalAG: the zlib1.dll in the desmume zip only has dependencies on msvcr80.dll, downloading it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en ,
should fix the problem, if it doesn’t, you can replace your current zlib1.dll to the one included in this package http://www.zlib.net/zlib123-dll.zip , and it’ll run perfectly, as that one only relies on msvcrt.dll, which is included on every Windows XP from the first release :)

Hanno: Linux is supported, that’s why we release binaries for it, just come into #desmume on irc.freenode.net if you have any problem, or the forums, so we can discuss properly :P

When I can play Mario and Luigi : Partners in Time on this emu ??

  18. steve says:

I downloaded the source tarball and had the same problem building as davr. I’m running under Ubuntu/Feisty. The i386 .deb package seems to need newer library than the Ubuntu repositories provide.

I fixed the source building by running dos2unix on all files extracted from the tarball. It seems they were in CR/LF format, rather than the *ix-standard LF format. I also needed to run ./autogen.sh before running ./configure.

Just an FYI in case it helps.

  19. steve says:

Sorry, one other comment about building from source in Ubuntu…

It seems that the configure script can succeed with certain critical libraries being missing. I successfully built and installed (no errors during install) after removing the carriage-returns from the source. But nothing runnable was built or installed. When I installed Ubuntu’s libgtkglext1-dev package I (finally) got some runnables installed to /usr/local/bin. Should some checks be added to configure.ac that make missing dependencies into hard errors? I know from personal experience that getting the autoconf stuff right is a pain. :)

I tried playing Castlevania:Dawn of Sorrow, Protrait of Ruin and even Super Princess Peach. It didnt crash but the top screen is very screw-up. So, please help me.

  21. Unknown says:

Thank you for the new release and Nintendo Dual Screens aren’t that expensive, you can buy a computer, you can buy a DS. Remember people, not every game works on even the most current Desume.

Though, thanks for the new release, I am hoping more and more games will eventually become playable, and by playable I mean worth spending my time looking for a decent rom that isn’t boring.

  22. Nuno Sousa says:

Would love a Mac OS X binary :)

  23. Destry says:

This release is good and all but when is there going to be a release that supports joypad input.

  24. Tsuska says:

Hmmm…i’ll try this out later….but looks like fun =P

  25. [vEX] says:

steve, thanks, works fine now, only ran dos2unix on some of the files and then ran autogen, now compiles without a problem.

    dos2unix Makefile.* autogen.sh configure*; ./autogen.sh; ./configure; make

  26. chule says:

most of people are downloading this emulator because they want to play Pokemon diamond/pearl. but it won’t work. So please fix this phuge problem(blank screen) with pokemon diamond/pearl because this is the game everyone wants to play.

  27. shash says:

chule: It’s not a huge bug, just incompatible. And personally, I don’t care about Pokemon, so better keep playing it on your DS…

  28. sky says:

dos2unix work fine on Mac Os X too. Thx for this solution.

I agree with you 100% but these guys do there own rules so save up your money unless u already have a ds and the game itself while Ill continue playing this game pokemon diamond with no$gba emulator which still hurts =(
(sigh) more than likely they might not make it compatiable for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl since shash told me the same thing and that’s how it is.

  32. Trevor says:

rockman zx advent can play with this emulator but i cant see my character which is a problem in order to play this game so hopefully some one can fix that

  33. God says:

Fuck, the least thing I want to do with a DS emulator is play a fucking pokémon game, worst anime of the world. It plays Ace Attorney and that’s all I need, so shut your child ass Trevor and stop being a lamer, you’re looking pathetic. You don’t have the money?, c’monnn. fuck you.

  34. Guest says:

Wait, does it still work for the Windows XP?

heh u want me to fuck myself huh? heh u really need to get a life. people can change there ways , it depends on how they want to change they must discover that on there own.

  36. Nicolas says:

Thanks a lot for this! I will download and test it right now!

  37. Nicolas says:

Please, someone compile a working debian package, it says dependency not satisifiable libc6, and I have libc6 correctly installed! I have the complete USA romset (1200+ roms), and I will be able to test all of them! (don’t ask for where I get the roms).

  38. Devlin says:

Trevor, what the heck? O_o Are you trying to make a witty comeback, or something? You’re failing miserably.

Anyways, if you love Pokemon, just buy DS and Pokemon game from the used store, it’s cheaper than new. If you still say “No, I don’t have money.” then I don’t believe you.

I don’t have a lot money neither but I managed to save up enough cash to buy NEW DS and Pokemon. Honestly you people…

Anyways, Shash, great work! I think you’re a real saint; You’re doing it for free, and have to put up with Pokemon fans that attack you for not doing what they demand.

  39. guelmis says:

    thx for the emulator

  40. FrozenFox says:

For those having trouble with their install on linux (mine just got stuck after the download prior to what turned out to be “refreshing linker cache”), try installing/updating pkg-config.

  41. baldo says:

    osx bin pls!

  42. FF3fan says:

    does FF3 work yet?

  43. Keszmen says:

Can anyone help me, mine says unable to intialize openGL. does anyone know what that means and how can i fix it?

  44. kEnX says:

thnx for this release… but i hope desmume and most of the games get stable fps… to play this emu like real DS… :)

  45. Alucard says:

Works fine but slow since it doesn’t use both cores of my proc. Is dual core support in project ?

Trevor, what the heck? O_o Are you trying to make a witty comeback, or something? You’re failing miserably.

i was not answering u so lets stop ok?

  47. Bereaver says:

Devlin, I don’t know why you are sticking up for the rude guy…. lol named “God” which with the name alone you know anything that comes out of his mouth is going to be “blasphemy”.

Anyway, I think Trevor has the right to request a favorite game of his. And what if he really is in a situation where he can’t afford the DS? Could it be possible that he just buy’s the cartridge so he can run the rom “decently” legal on this computer?

Anyways…. for Trevor…. Sorry guy, but they do have the right to not choose to make a certain game’s compatibility on the top of their list. Although…… I do know ALOT of people want to play it, it would be rather wise. :p It would generate alot more traffic in my opinion. But… it seems they also see it as a thorn in their back, not sure why, but they seem to have their reasons. It will come with time, but don’t look for it now.

Good job Shash. But sometimes, you have to do something for the little people. :) Have fun all.

  48. Pascal Giard says:

Please use the forum and/or the project tracker at sourceforge.net so we can keep track of the problems.

I can’t speak for the other devs, i’m not looking at news comments much. At least rarely. And since it’s hard to create a dialog, i won’t address issues in this “thread”.

So please create a forum post for your issues (e.g. Debian package that doesn’t work [on stable section(?)], building on MacOSX).

  49. shash says:

Bereaver: You’re actually free to fix the potential issues that could be affecting that game in particular and send us the patch, else better keep waiting: we work on desmume on our free time, for free, and based on our interests, so expect that we will work on games/stuff we actually prefer, and not what people prefers.

And about the “being wise” stuff, do you think supporting a game that a lot of warez kiddies want to play is so? Supporting the homebrew scene is, not the rom beggers.

Can I play Dr. Kawashima´s brain training thing using this emulator?
