DeSmuME v0.7.3 released!

The new things in this release are a Cocoa port and translations support for Gtk-glade port.

With the Cocoa port, Mac OS X users can now fully enjoy DeSmuME on their favorite system! The Mac port doesn’t yet have all the features of the other ports but should run all games with near same compatibility. (DeSmuME running on Mac OS X)

Translations are now available on three ports: Cocoa, Gtk-glade and Windows, feel free to send us new translations (there’s instructions on how to do it in README.TRANSLATION).

darc: Microphone support isn’t something new on DS emulators…

  2. darc says:

may be but is there one with which you can play games????

  3. shash says:

darc: yes, google it, won’t talk about other emulators here :)

  4. Bolo says:

One emulator can run most of games at very good speed. If you want info, search google.com I would tell you, but I can’t write it here…

  5. darc says:

    ok thanks for your answer

  6. JCmonX says:

  7. tazmar says:

  8. Drew says:

I’m having trouble getting it to start up. I’m intel / 10.5.1. I imagine this is a Leopard compatibility issue.

  11. Jeff says:

Thanks for the report; there is a compatibility issue with Leopard – it’s on my list of things to work on regarding the Cocoa port. Apparently it might work if compiled on Leopard, so feel free to do that until the problem is fixed.

  12. Bouya says:

The last version is 0.7.4 Alpha, it’s on the blog.

  13. shash says:

Bouya: technically that’s an unnofficial build

  14. zero says:

Perhaps because it’s unofficial then it don’t work with ZXA. I tried the 0.7.4 alpha more times but it doesn’t work. Now I was playing with the Ideas but I didn’t like it most. I probably prefer DeSmuMe. Hope the final 0.7.4 release soon

  15. Nonoche says:

Desmume now crashes at launch with Mac OS X 10.5.1, here’s the console log:

  16. Kamesenin says:

Bouya I can’t find the 0.7.4 Alpha version, where I can find it? can you give me the link?????

  17. Kibbitz says:

Hey shash, wat are the improvements for the next release of desmune?

  18. shash says:

Kibbitz: mainly a fix for Mario 64 DS, a major regression fix, partial 3D transparency support, sprite transparency support, a SMALL speed improvement, some debug utils, and that’s all I can remember…

  19. Kibbitz says:

    Thanks for the info

  20. Bolo says:

OMG…Last version was so long…It will be ever released ??

  21. Kibbitz says:

Hey shash i heard that some games require you too blow the microphone to play
How would that work in an emulater?

  22. Bolo says:

I don’t think so that game required to “blow the microphone” :D but “blow to the microphone”, yes some game requires that. For example Naruto Ninja Council 3 and Sasukes attack.

  23. zeb says:

Last version was so long…It will be ever released ??

  24. hickname says:

Other emulators use real microphone connected to the PC. All you need to do is some setup in sound options.

  25. guytan says:

In reply to Caery who asked for the need of Mac Os10.4 to run roms :
It seems not to work here too (10.4.11) for backup roms >>> Always white screens
But most of homebrews runs just fine !
Hold tight boys ! You’re on the good way !

NB : I don’t have the same menu than the screenshot shown with the pinguins at the beginning… (I have a ppc mac and it’s the 0.7.3 ppc version running).

In fine, sorry for my poor language, I’m a poor frenchy frog – Croak – Gloc !

  26. Kibbitz says:

Isnt there any better way instead of using a real microphone?

  27. fanfoni says:

i’d like to use a gamepad with this emulator. is this possible?
    thanks for your help.

  28. hickname says:

You can try to assign your microfone input to your audio output. Because DS recognize only level of sound on microphone, this will work.
I suggest you buy a real microfone, which is cost $5 or less, because using audio out as microphone is buggy – you will need to mute sound in “sound settings” every time you need no signal on microphone.

  29. JCmonX says:

i cannot find alpha 7.4 anywhere, could you please posta link?

  30. alfa says:

    project is dead?

  31. shash says:

Project isn’t officially dead, hell, only a few months have passed since last release. Stop assuming a release has to be done per month…

  32. wad11656 says:

    lol…I’m just waiting for the next Mac release to see if it’ll work with my Mac OS X Leopard…^_^;

  33. JCmonX says:

    …still hoping release before Xmas…

  34. Kibbitz says:

WOW didnt think it would take this loooong……………………..
    Whats taking so long?
I hope the release is worth it……….

  35. Kibbitz says:

Keep up the good work guys

  36. darc says:

i found the emu with mic support but even the fact that it emulates more games and is faster than desmume cant stop me to hope that desmume will soon be better than all the other emulators
so plz dont give up anf do your best

  37. Dark_Knight says:

how to use this emulator??? this is my first time using this emulator….. please tell me…. i want to play pokemon diamond……

  38. osok says:

    hello

why i can’t foued the file desmume.exe? can someone help me please!!

  39. DaVince says:

The Linux version is solid, but also quite slow, making DS homebrew development pretty difficult for me. Keep up the work and let’s hope speed will become less of an issue in the next version.

  40. DaVince says:

Judging by the comments made, it might be good to set up specific goals for a new version and publish that list so people can stop nagging (since they’ll be able to see how progress is towards the next release).

  41. shash says:

DaVince: How much slow? I mean, I’ve developed quite a lot of stuff on desmume without any problems.

  42. mahizo says:

When are you ppls going to release a version compatible wit Leopard.. apologies if this question has been answered already, i don’t have time to read all teh posts.

  43. Jeff says:

Not sure when the next release will come, hopefully it will be working on Leopard.

  44. Bolo says:

is the new version will be ever release ?? c’mon guys.

  45. William Garrison says:

I’m using Leopard, I get the same crash as everyone else. Pooies! I would debug the problem myself if I had the slightest clue how to build and debug stuff on OS X. Oh well… maybe one day.

  46. mac says:

making desmume for leopard from source program.

    cd desmume-0.7.3

    ./configure LDFLAGS=-Wl,-dylib_file,/System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework/Versions/A/Libraries/libGL.dylib:/System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework/Versions/A/Libraries/libGL.dylib

    make

    src/gtk/desmume

  47. alldogship says:

Hmm… not working, mac. Edited crash report (not a very long one but I didn’t want to clutter the comments too much):

    Path: /Volumes/DeSmuME/DeSmuME.app/Contents/MacOS/DeSmuME
    Code Type: X86 (Native)

Back to windows partition for me.

  48. mahizo says:

maybe I’m not savvy enuff to follow your instructions, mac, but the disk image you put up could not be mounted .. Perhaps you should elaborate on your explanation for us humble peasants who are new to mac.. it would be greatly appreciated

  49. alldogship says:

I got a valid img file by adding .zip and uncompressing it, maybe that’s how I got a crash.

  50. mac says:

    sorry.
    It was wrong URL.
and, I had forgotten having installed Macport.
This Desmume seems to run only in a special environment.
I do not understand what is necessary.
Perhaps, X11 and SDL are necessary.
