DeSmuME v0.7.0 released!
Yes, it’s that time again. 3D emulation is the big thing for this release! Other important new features include *.duc support, sprite rotation/scaling. There was also a number of bug fixes. See the changelog file included with the packages for more details.
Special thanks to snkmad who’s been doing a lot of testing for us of late.
May 11th, 2007 at 11:30 pm
1st post. I hope this got faster fps rate
May 11th, 2007 at 11:50 pm
The Emulator still runs slow as the 0.6.0 one. o.o
May 12th, 2007 at 1:12 am
Yeah, it didnt say the speed increase. It says:
***Yes, it’s that time again. 3D emulation is the big thing for this release! Other important new features include *.duc support, sprite rotation/scaling.****
That’s great! keep up!
May 12th, 2007 at 1:32 am
Really good, Thank you guys
May 12th, 2007 at 1:44 am
A little bit slower, but the screen is great!
May 12th, 2007 at 1:49 am
When will you fix Compatibility list
May 12th, 2007 at 1:57 am
Run binary-exe(WinXP SP2) and it displays “Unable to initialize openGL” and does’nt work …
Why?!
May 12th, 2007 at 2:14 am
This build runs much better than the previous. Also, I see some 3D support in a few games. This is quite an improvement but still needs some work.
May 12th, 2007 at 2:27 am
Woot. Thanks for your hard work!
@MasterOfHyrule
He didn’t say anything about improving the speed drastically. They’re adding more features, and bug fixes so more games can work and look great.
May 12th, 2007 at 3:48 am
Hey, 3D. That works for me, as well as some new features. This is by far the best DS emulator I’ve ever tried. Its my favorite too. Keep up the good work.
May 12th, 2007 at 3:54 am
instead of some 3d emulation….
maybe can consident on FPS rate?
May 12th, 2007 at 4:12 am
In linux i get an error when trying to run Desmume:
“GTK Accessibility Module initialized
Nbr of joysticks: 0
The program ‘desmume’ received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was ‘GLXBadContext’.
(Details: serial 248 error_code 155 request_code 143 minor_code 5)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the –sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
”
I don’t know if its for my graphic card (intel 945gm) or because of the program.

May 12th, 2007 at 8:00 am
Looking good, finally the blur is gone. Now, a shame the transparent color still isn’t masked unlike the screenshots on the blog, but it’s still an improvement.
May 12th, 2007 at 8:36 am
Very nice release.
Excellent work on the 3D.
I can see a great improvement done to the emulation.
Keep up the good work!
May 12th, 2007 at 9:23 am
M sure, DeSmuME will be a perfect emu in the future.
May 12th, 2007 at 9:28 am

May 12th, 2007 at 10:12 am
This emulator doesn’t work at all. I have tested many roms with the other emulator but this DeSmuME v0.7.0 didn’t do anything. The only thing is the framerate and a white screen (superb) -_-. Ho i forget, i test it in Windows Vista but it should work with xp sp2 emulation but it doesn’t. I will test in my other computer with xp and say if it works or not.
But i can say GG to the 3D emulation it is hard to do.
May 12th, 2007 at 10:21 am
I test it with xp and it is the same problem. A white screen grrr.
May 12th, 2007 at 10:46 am
Very nice improvements… but i’ve found bugs in Castlevania dawn of sorrows, in the second stage after “the little fight” the lower screen is all black but the save works..great..
Into supermario partners in time the game locks at robot container when pressing start..the robot opens and desmume locks.. it’s possible fix these bugs..?

May 13th, 2007 at 7:22 am
I have the same problem as VIVI however I have two computers and they both use the same build of windows XP, The second one I had never downloaded any versions of DeSmuME on and it worked fine on that one!!
this leads me to believe that it may have something to do with the stored data of one of the other versions of DeSmuME as they all use the same saved data. perhaps erasing the data from the previous versions of DeSmuME before downloading it would fix this problem?
May 13th, 2007 at 7:27 am
Wow~!
May 13th, 2007 at 7:52 am
I did a bit of research on the ”The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)” problem and it definitely seems to be a system issue. It’s covered in Microsoft’s knowledgebase at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822520
It’s only showing up now since I compiled the last release using Visual Studio 2005 instead of mingw which I used to use. It’s recommended for those running into the problem to upgrade either to the newest service pack or re-install the current service pack you’re running.
May 13th, 2007 at 9:44 am
thank you!!!!!!!!!!
i’m really happy!!
May 13th, 2007 at 9:45 am
same as Benichon`s problem , at least in most games
i use xp pro sp2

lol its not slower, set your frameskip to 0
May 13th, 2007 at 11:25 am
A lot of nubs are complaining. Good for them.
I want to say well done on the sound emulation. It’s great. It doesn’t break up or become distorted even when the emulator is cycling below par, unlike the NO$GBA emu, the author of which seems to be frustrated over this point. So congrats again. Maybe he will peruse your source.

I have the same problem (0xc0150002) but my computer is XP home edition service pack 2…
May 13th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
When i use VS2005, you have to have .net framework 2.0 to run the application otherwise you get an error like above.
Try installing the latest .net framework (3.0 is an extension 2.0) and see if it cures your problems.

May 14th, 2007 at 3:49 am
Joss: afaik, if you don’t setup the app to use the .NET framework, it shouldn’t use it, so that’s not true for desmume, which doesn’t rely on .NET. Basic runtimes (which by no means are the same as the .NET frameworkd) are another problem, which seems to be the culprit here.
To fix the problem with the(0xC0150002), downloading the lastest runtime libraries from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en,
seems to fix the problem.

thx for been working on this

i thought i could post the games i tested:
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow>> is faster (even thus they said in here that the speed was not increase) the sound is a lot better as well as the graphics. It shows a color defect around the characters thus.
RE: Deadly Silence >>> here speed the same. Sound a lot better. Intro looks really good. Upper screen of the “DS” looks good after the intro, but the screen below is black and then it froze.
Thank again for this. And i clarified i`m trying to help the only way i can. hope my comment save you at least a few minutes

Hi,
Just another bug report
Same compilation error as Hanno and Culex when compiling desmume 0.7.0 on Mac OS X ( 10.4.9 ). The 0.6.0 version compile normaly.
May 15th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
Great work! I started up Mario64 and it worked for me with a few graphical glitches, etc and Need for speed carbon starts up too.. And the speed might seem slow, but that is because its on auto frame skip once I set it to 0 I get about 40fps on my AMD 3800+. Very impressive indeed.
May 15th, 2007 at 3:23 pm
Whenever I try to load a rom it crashes with a null pointer error, even roms that have been explicitly noted as being playable. Something got screwed up (0.5.0 worked fine for me, hasn’t worked since).
May 15th, 2007 at 3:28 pm
Aha, you have to move the ROM to the DeSmuME directory or else it crashes…

I’m just wondering what are the minimum hardware requirements to run roms on DeSmuME? I had better success with no$gba thus far.
A lot of great titles on the DS, btw. Specifically ones like Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk add so much flavour.
I’d like to thank everyone who’s involved with DeSmuME. You guys are surely doing something right. Good stuff!

Nice Releasing… improve the visual effects first to enhance de speed later, i hope that’s what u r doing! =D

Improve the speed first, the visuals are already good.Well, at least in the game I wanna play with.*cough*Mega Man ZX. By the way Have a great summer everyone!!!
May 21st, 2007 at 9:40 pm
Still unable to play pokemon diamond and pearl =(
but keep up the good work.. I hope the next version will be a much better one
I doubt that they will make it work with the new desmume v8.0 if they do
May 22nd, 2007 at 2:34 pm
The improvement is great but please, make the emulator faster!!!!
May 22nd, 2007 at 4:12 pm
excellent work!
looks like desmume can run more games (with less glitches) than any other current emulator
and as you were already told many times, please concentrate on improving speed instead of the compatibility (although that wouldn’t hurt either=)
anyway, good luck w/ the next release
May 22nd, 2007 at 5:06 pm
Thanks a lot shash, that download really solved the (0xc0150002) problem on my Windows XP SP1. Check out shash’s comment a above (it was posted on My 14th, so look around the comments on that day) for the instructions on how to fix (0xc0150002). I worked for me, so it probably works for others.
Frankly, I wasn’t expecting any increase on speed, but I got 20+ fps on Megaman ZX on my crappy 6 years old computer! A nice boost, compared to the 10-12 on the previous version. I can fell that this emulator has got potential. Keep up the good work, everyone!

Turco – Mega Man ZX runs with 20-23fps on my PC too, and I have WinXP, SP 2, 2.8Ghz (clock at 210Hz > 2933 Hz, um…you probably know this kind of stuff), 1G RAM and a Sapphire ATI X1600 Pro, so I don’t think it depends on the computer really.IT NEEDS SPEED!!! hmm…there’s a lot of Mega Man ZX fans out there, COOL!!!

This update is good but like the other hundred comments it needs speed.
Mario 64 DS now works with this 3D function… it’s just slow.
Megaman ZX is just as slow as ever, I seriously doubt it improved at all like some say, it’s just not updated in that field.
Please work on frame rate now that you have 3D capabilities… it’s time to get things atleast playable, forget specific errors. Get it playable.

For all those people begging for speed, and as personal note, it’ll take a while for me to work on that. I made some minor speed ups that’ll you’ll see on next release, but that’s all for now.
It mainly affects games that were limited by interpreting graphics and not the CPU, and it gives a maximum of a 40% speed boost (so, for example, for me yoshi’s island went from 40-45fps to 60-65fps).
I’ll focus on speed related work in the future, not now, so stop asking as this isn’t my top priority. And I won’t change my mind, as I do this for free and work on what I prefer, and that’s not gonna chang anytime soon. Of course, some other devs might have a different opinion and work on speed, but not anyone that I know has said so, so that’s all for now.

Oooh okay than +D TY for ur hard work =P, hope ur having fun coding +P
May 24th, 2007 at 5:00 am
do you want people to use your emu or not?
if yes, you should get it playable like Torin says. no$gba now only lacks save.. (it gets to 300%+ frame rate) when that’s done, only minor bugs would be needed to be corrected. i support desmume, but i will use any other emulator that meets my needs as a gamer.
if not, nevermind.. good luck

xero: I guess you don’t get the idea: we don’t work for you. You don’t pay us a single dollar, neither give anything to us. So you don’t have any right to demand what we should be working on.
We will work on whatever we feel it’s due, and we are in mood to, as we work on this on our (little) free time. Opinions of people are listened, but aren’t received as orders. I might consider to check a bug or two that get reported and I’m willing to check, but don’t ever, never, expect me to follow others people demands blindy, because that’s not going to happen.
This is a hobby for us developers, and we want to have fun, not to follow others people orders: we already have a real job for that.

Very nice emulator, keep going!! I guess the best control config will be:
UP (E)
DOWN (D)
LEFT (S)
RIGHT (F)
A (numberpad 4)
B (numberpad 5)
R (numberpad 6)
L (numberpad 0)
X (numberpad 7)
Y (numberpad
START (numberpad ENTER)
SELECT (SPACE)
it’s only my suggestion though…
still, you are GREAT!! nice improvement with sound. I can’t wait the new version, keep going!!

How can i download the file
May 31st, 2007 at 6:12 pm
I have three Computers each with a different Windows Operating System. Windows Vista, XP and 98se. I tested the emulator on all 3 systems with some playable DS Roms. On Windows Vista it’s was a little slow, on Windows XP is was very good, but when I tested it on Windows 98se I got an error MSVCR80.DLL is needed.
Keep up the hard work and thanks for making the emulator better. It would be cool if the emulator can be play on all Operating System, but that’s up to you all. Thanks again for all your hard work.
May 31st, 2007 at 8:27 pm
failure and errors depends maybe on game. I have tested Castlevania potrait of ruin, Digimon world, Final Fantasy on yoyo’s emulator, and on Castlevania and Final Fantasy which is high graphical detailed the emulator runs with low fps and broken 3D parts. Digimon world which is low graphical detailed runs good. the emultaor is stil on improvement. I think it’s good emulator in future.

If you have problems or questions, this is not the place to post them.
Instead go to forums.
Cya there.
June 3rd, 2007 at 4:53 pm
Cheering! Although it is a little slow, I believe that you will make a perfect one!
June 4th, 2007 at 5:32 pm

It would be cool if you could the speed though.
Anyway, thumbs up.

I’m eager to try this emulator, but I’m getting a linking error in that the linker can’t resolve “init_GL_free_s”. Where -is- this function? I run Linux, by the way.
(I initially got the same compilation errors that other people reported, but I think I got around them through some fiddling.)
